Day 4

Poulsbo, WA -> Tacoma, WA

It seems so obvious, but it’s so much easier to ride after eating a sizable breakfast in the morning! Today I did about 45 miles, but I think I’m going to drop that down tomorrow a bit to get a little rest.

Great Views

The views today were pretty incredible. I felt like I was somewhat back in civilization, but the populated areas along the route were nestled in some fantastic scenery.

Here are a few shots I took:

Tacoma Narrows Bridge

I feel like I’ve ridden across so many bridges now. It’s so hard to capture the size of this thing with a picture, but it’s 200 feet above the water with some amazing views.

Nerd Cred Restored!

So, I have a confession to make. I’ve never read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I know I know… But, I’m taking the opportunity of this trip to listen to the audio book version of all six books. I just finished the first book today. I’ve also been listening to a bunch of podcasts, and a little music here and there.

Pro Tip - Reduced Weight and Increased Utility

One of the most useful things on a trip like this is, of course, duct tape. But, do you really want to pack an entire roll? Space and weight are limited. So, what you can do instead is wrap some duct tape around a pen or pencil. You’ll be able to access it when you need it, and you’ll have a writing implement as well!

Trouble Ahead?

I took a look at the weather past Portland, OR and it looks like I may be hitting some rain… I’m keeping an eye on it, but we’ll see what happens.
